The government is trying to make the business of drone makers in India reach Rs 900 crore in the coming three years.
New Delhi. Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said on Thursday that the turnover of the Indian drone industry will reach Rs 15,000 crore by the year 2026. Scindia's statement came after the government on Wednesday approved the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for drones and drone parts with an allocation of Rs 120 crore over three financial years. This step has been taken by the Central Government after the new and liberal Drone Rules, 2021 notified by the Ministry of Civil Aviation on August 25.
“Through the Drone Policy (Rules) and the Drone PLI scheme, we aim to reach Rs 900 crore in the business of drone makers in India in the coming three years,” the Aviation Minister said at a press conference. At present, Indian drone manufacturing companies have a turnover of about Rs 80 crore. Combining these three sectors, we estimate that the Indian drone industry will reach $1.8 billion by 2026. This means that by then the total business of the industry will be Rs 12,000 to 15,000 crores. According to him, the drone manufacturing industry will give 10 thousand jobs directly.
The Government of India is currently working in this direction that in the coming time, drone taxis will start working in the country. Only last month, after liberal rules regarding drones came, Scindia had said that the time is not far when you will see taxis under the drone policy in the air like Uber etc on the roads. I think it is very much possible." He said that the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Home Affairs and BCAS (Bureau of Civil Aviation Security) are working together so that "anti-enemy drone technology" can be developed and adopted quickly. Can you The civil aviation ministry, in a notification dated August 25, has reduced the number of forms required to be filled for drone operations in the country from 25 to five and the types of fees charged to operators from 72 to four.
