DGCA fine on Air India: Aviation regulator Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has taken major action on Air India. DGCA has imposed a fine of Rs 10 lakh on Air India. Earlier a show cause notice was issued to the airline and a personal hearing was also conducted.
The reason behind imposing the fine is to deny boarding to passengers holding valid tickets. The fine was imposed for not paying compensation even after the passengers had valid boarding passes. Air India had refused boarding despite the passengers having valid tickets and being present for boarding on time. After which DGCA has taken this decision.
DGCA gave this advice to the airline
Regarding this matter, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said in a statement that the investigation was done after this matter came to light. The DGCA has advised the airline to immediately put in place a system to resolve this issue so that such incidents do not come to the fore in the future. Failure to do so will result in further action being taken by DGCA.
