Air Fare Price Hike: There is a bad news for air travelers. Flight tickets are going to be expensive due to rising prices of aviation fuel (ATF) and falling value of rupee. Ajay Singh, Chairman and MD of Spicejet, said that the rise in the prices of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF), we have no option but to increase flight ticket fare. Singh said in a statement that to maintain the operation cost, there is a need to increase at least 10-15 percent in air fare.
He said that since June 2021, the prices of ATF have increased by more than 120 percent. This increase is not durable and governments, Center and State need to take immediate action to reduce tax on ATF. This is the highest in the world.
Rupee-dollar also impact
He said that SpiceJet has tried to bear the maximum burden of this aging in fuel prices in the last few months, which is more than 50 percent of our operation cost. He further said that the weakening of the Indian rupee against the US dollar has more impact on the airlines, as our sufficient cost or dollar is estimated.
ATF price increased again
The prices of ATF have once again increased by 16 percent, after which ATF prices have reached record level. From today, the ATF price has increased by Rs 19757.13 per kiloliter to Rs 141232.87 per kiloliter.
On June 1, the price of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) was given about 1.3 percent relief. According to the official website of Indian Oil, ATF prices in the country's capital Delhi had fallen by Rs 1,563.97. On June 1, the price of jet fuel in Delhi was Rs 121,475.74 per kiloliter.
